Event Description:
Within the framework of the ATE230028 Anillo Project and the project on smoked chili in zarandas from Palmilla, funded by the National Service for Cultural Heritage, the Salesianos Don Bosco Agricultural School in Linares hosted a unique workshop focused on the appreciation of cultural heritage through audiovisual creation. The workshop, led by the chili heritage research team from the Universidad Católica del Maule and coordinated by Professor Cristian Yañez, brought together 39 students from the Industrial Food Processing Technician program, representatives from the Palmilla Neighborhood Council, and teachers from the school.
Workshop Goals and Activities:
The main objective of the workshop was to raise awareness among new generations about the importance of preserving and valuing cultural heritage using audiovisual language as a key tool. The activities were divided into three main modules:
- Awareness of Heritage: Introduction to the concept of heritage and its importance, accompanied by practical exercises in identifying visual narratives.
- Social Media Content: Training in the creation and editing of audiovisual content aimed at promoting cultural heritage on social media.
- Recording Interviews and Product Presentation: Practice of recording interviews with local practitioners and documenting the preparation of products using Palmilla's smoked chili.
Impact and Expected Outcomes:
The students actively participated in creating audiovisual capsules, with the challenge of submitting their final works within 7 days for evaluation and feedback. The most outstanding videos will be shared on the social media channels of the initiative and on related web pages, thereby contributing to the promotion of Palmilla's cultural heritage.
Conclusions:
This workshop not only promoted a connection with local traditions and a sense of identity among the youth but also demonstrated the relevance of combining cultural heritage with modern audiovisual creation skills. Furthermore, it highlighted the importance of collaboration between educational institutions and local communities to strengthen the knowledge and appreciation of cultural heritage.
