Children and nature: an educational day that awakens ecological awareness

As part of the ANID ATE230028 - Ecos of Climate Change Project, elementary school students participated in an enriching educational day at the Universidad Católica del Maule, where they explored the relationship between art, nature and sustainability.

During the activity, the children toured part of the Agronomy campus, learning about crops, native flora, biodiversity and the fundamental role of bees in pollination and ecological balance.

One participant commented:

"We learned many new things, we learned about this university that gives you the benefits of knowledge about nature. We were able to see the plants, the crops, learn about the bees and their work in life. Although they are small, they do very big things that help us on a daily basis."

Another student added:

"I thought the activity was very nice. Everything we saw was a lot of fun: nature, plants, art. Without nature we wouldn't exist; bees are also very important because they pollinate flowers and trees, and that gives us life."

These experiences reflect the spirit of the Rings Project, which seeks to link scientific knowledge with environmental education and artistic creativity, promoting ecological awareness from childhood and strengthening the link between community, territory and biodiversity.

Educating in contact with nature is the first step in forming new generations committed to the conservation and care of the planet.
