First Meeting of the Anillo Project.

🌱 First Meeting of the Anillo Project 🏔️

December 15, 2023 marked the beginning of a transformative journey with the first meeting of our project: “Biodiversity from Coast to Mountains: A socio-environmental study of rural communities’ (Eco)2- Cultural practices in a scenario of Climate Change”.

This project, known as ATE 230028, becomes our compass to navigate the challenges of climate change and discover resilient strategies that protect our natural and cultural heritage. Through this initiative, we aim to explore and document the (eco)cultural practices of rural communities in various regions of Chile, from the coast to the mountains.

In this first meeting, team members shared their expectations and laid the foundation for a collaborative effort that will enable a deep understanding of biodiversity and sustainable cultural practices. Together, we will explore, learn, and create sustainable pathways for tomorrow.

Project Objectives:

  • Socio-Environmental Study: Analyze the socio-environmental practices of rural communities in a climate change context.
  • Documentation of Cultural Practices: Collect and preserve traditional knowledge and cultural practices related to biodiversity.
  • Development of Resilient Strategies: Formulate strategies that enable communities to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Participants:

  • Researchers and academics from various disciplines
  • Members of the involved rural communities.
  • Representatives from collaborating institutions.

Next Steps:

In the coming months, the Anillo Project team will conduct a series of workshops and community meetings to gather data and experiences. These efforts will contribute to the creation of a robust body of knowledge that will not only benefit local communities but also provide valuable insights for public policies and conservation strategies at the national level.
